RACE REPORT

Monza was covered with red again. Needless to say, this is the Italian Grand Prix, home of Ferrari. No sooner had the checkered flag trailed than enthusiastic Tifosi flowed into the track and become a huge cloth underneath the brilliant podium. The crowd got excited and became a part of the marvelous view. But this year we could find many blue-and-red caps, of course it means they cheer loudly for Sebastian. He is the previous winner of this Monza, that was a fantastic first victory of him.

Before coming back to Monza after a year's absence, he took part in a football match for charity with some of F1 drivers. He scored two goals and decided the game!

“I really enjoyed myself," said scorer Seb after the match. “I'm a big football fan and often play with my mates and I'm a passionate supporter of the Eintracht Frankfurt team."

But after that, it became a difficult weekend for him not like the football match. The car RB5 doesn't fit Monza because the most part of its track is going straight, although the car is really quick in the corners. In qualifying, 9th grid was the best he could do.

Within one hour after the session, heavy rain had come to Monza. It reminded us Sebastian's dramatic victory of last year.

“I'm not happy. It wasn't raining!“ he laughed at the heavy rain outside. "The rain came a little bit too late! It might have helped us in qualifying. Maybe tomorrow, who knows? Why not?"

“We don't have one corner or one place in particular we're losing. All the weekend has been a little bit difficult. Obviously qualifying was much better than practice, but the intention was to be higher up the grid. But I don't think it's as bad as it looks now. Qualifying, it just wasn't our day, maybe. As you can see the times are very close so there wasn't a lot missing."

Sebastian's hope was thwarted on Sunday. There was no rain, no chance to overtake the car in front. But he never gave up and kept on pushing towards the end. He even had a moment of going off the track. Finally he got one point thanks to a top runner's retirement.

“The biggest issue today was the first five to ten laps when I was struggling with low grip, I was sliding a lot and lost a lot of time. Overall, we didn't have the speed and perhaps this wasn't the best track for our car."

“But you have to bring everything together. If you're a little bit off yourself and you don't get the maximum out of yourself, very quickly you lose two or three tenths. And if you sum it up, you're more or less there."

Now the gap from the leader is widened to 26 points. But of course, he never gives up. This one point could be a crucial point at the end of the season.

"The Championship isn't over. Our target is to do our best, we're here to win races and the Championship, so we have to focus on that, all the rest is out of our hands."
