October 13, 2009 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the release of three new shock-resistant watches in its family of G-Shock watches. The three new models were created in collaborations with the graphic artist Mr. Cartoon, the photographer Todd Jordan, and the hip hop artist Redman.
The distinctive feature of every G-Shock is the unique, solid shape, which was developed in the pursuit of superior shock resistance. By employing a wide range of designs and colors that reflect changing trends, the G-Shock brand has found a place in the hearts of young people, and the watch has achieved an enduring presence in youth fashion.
To keep capturing the leading edge of youth culture, Casio collaborates on G-Shock watches with brands and artists that not only represent youth culture but also reinforce the G-Shock concept of challenging convention and indestructible toughness.
To create the three new models, Casio has collaborated with a graphic artist, a photographer, and a hip-hop artist. Mr. Cartoon is a graphic artist working mainly in Los Angeles, and is known for his designs with pinstripe or clown motifs. Todd Jordan and Redman work mainly in North America and are contributors to the free magazine, Frank, which has become an icon for current trends and cutting-edge culture. Many talented content creators are involved in the magazine. For the new collaborative watches, Casio found three contributors whose style and personality matches the cool, tough image of the G-Shock.
