TOKYO, August 6, 2008 – Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the release of two new electronic keyboards, WK-500 and CTK-5000. As fun to play as every Casio keyboard, these new models are designed especially for users who would like to broaden the variety of music they can perform. Both keyboard offer a diverse range of built-in tones and rhythms that make it easy to get the perfect sound for almost any musical genre.

Both of the new keyboards are high-grade models that offer a rich variety of built-in tones - 670 in all - including pianos, strings, guitars, basses, drums, and many more. Both also offer 200 different built-in rhythms - rock, pop, jazz, dance, bossa nova, and samba, just to name a few.

Casio’s Rhythm Editor lets users modify the built-in rhythms, and the Scale Editor allows modification of the musical scale. The pitch bend wheel enables users to change the pitch of notes smoothly. These functions make it possible to play eastern-style ethnic music. The keyboards also come with sampling features for recording any sound you want or your favorite musical phrases via the microphone jack or audio in jack*1 and then playing them back on the keyboard.

Adding to all these great features, the two keyboards also feature Casio’s unique Step Up Lesson function. Budding musicians can learn to play a whole song by repeating the simple steps phrase-by–phrase-just “Listen” to the sample music, “Watch” the fingering guide on the LCD screen, and then “Remember” by playing the song without assistance. This function really helps users to take on the challenge of learning new songs.

Both keyboards employ Casio’s newly developed AHL Sound Source technology,*2 which enables the realistic reproduction of tones from acoustic instruments like the piano and more. The maximum polyphony of 48 notes - an improvement from 32 notes - ensures that no sound drops out, even when playing complex parts with auto-accompaniment. They also feature piano-style keys to satisfy more users.
*1 CTK-5000 offers sampling only via audio in.
*2 AHL (Acoustic & Highly-compressed Large-waveform) Sound Source uses advanced digital technologies and makes it possible to record twice as much waveform data as previous technologies (HL Sound Source). This new sound source is particularly effective in accurately reproducing the rich tones of acoustic instruments.
