March
24, 2005, Tokyo, Japan – Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announces
the PRG-80 lineup, a new crown to the PRO TREK series of outdoor timepieces.
As the top-of-the-line model in the PRO TREK series, the PRG-80 has
enhanced versatility over its predecessor through an expanded memory
function as well as even easier to read on-the-fly altitude and barometric
pressure measurement capabilities.
The PRO TREK series was created to meet the needs of demanding outdoor
adventurers and alpinists, designed to withstand the rigours of the
outside world and packed with powerful features to help them achieve
their best. Renowned for its combination of powerful sensors, full-face
LCD for easy reading, and one-touch easy operation, the PRO TREK series
is the timepiece of choice for many of the world’s top alpinists
and adventurers.
The PRG-80 contains all the features and functions that alpinists
have come to expect from the PRO TREK series. Treading on the origins
and popularity of the PRG line, it includes Casio’s Tough Solar
power system that eliminates the worry of running out of battery,
as well as triple sensors for reading altitude, direction, and barometric
pressure. New to the PRG-80 is a differential pointer on the LCD display
to track latest changes in barometric pressure and altitude, making
on-the-fly readings possible and staying ahead of the game even easier.
An expanded memory function stores historical to-date altitude data
and can display the highest altitude, lowest altitude, total ascent
and total decent for better results tracking. The PRG-80 also features
a 30 city world-time function, a first for a triple sensor watch,
so you can be sure to have the right time no matter where in the world
the adventure takes you.
Despite its powerful features, the PRG-80 follows the tradition of
PRO TREK‘s design to be easy to use. The large LCD watch face
displays information in a simple, easy to read format in all modes.
The full auto EL backlight illuminates the entire display for easy
viewing in the dark and automatically activates whenever the watch
is angled towards the face for viewing. The PRG-80’s easy-to-operate
buttons are large enough to be pressed with gloves on and all three
sensor modes can be accessed with one button press alleviating the
hassle of cycling through functions. Water resistant to 100M and encased
in a sturdy resin casing and protective stainless steel bezel the
PRG-80 is equipped to withstand harsh weather and rough use. The PRO
TREK PRG-80 is a critical piece of equipment for any serious alpinist.
