September 16, 2005, Tokyo, Japan -- CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. announced
the release in Q4 (Oct.-Dec.) 2005 of its newest PDA-style industrial
data terminals with the IT-600 (4 models, see table below). The IT-600
offers IP54 rated dust and water protection, and the shock-resistance
to withstand a fall from up to 1.2 meters. The pocket-sized and portable
IT-600 features the latest Microsoft® Windows®
CE 5.0 English version OS, and comes equipped with a high-performance
laser scanner and Bluetooth® Ver.1.2 wireless technology.
The IT-600 also complies with the European Union’s Restriction
of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic
Equipment directive (RoHS).
The
IT-600 was originally created for the retail industry, which
in recent years has seen a rapid increase in the need to
gather, analyze, and apply store operations information
in real time. The ability to perform these activities quickly,
easily, and efficiently has given rise to the many features
supported by the IT-600, such as the high-performance barcode
reader, which is comfortably operable in either hand with
the use of “trigger” keys at the center as well
as both sides, contributing to more efficient inspection
of received goods and inventory operations. The IT-600 has
the ability to connect wirelessly to a portable label printer
using the integrated Bluetooth® module, allowing
for speedy handling of operations such as inventory tag
printing and sales price updates. In addition, the supersensitive
CCD 1.0 mega pixel camera (IT-600M30C/M30CR models only)
enables transfer of images of sales floor and merchandise
status information.
While the merits of this convenient and powerful solution are crucial
for operations information management in retail, other industries
such as market research, inspections, manufacturing, parking violation
enforcement, and hospitals can also benefit from the many features
offered by the IT-600.
Boasting
a wide array of functions essential for a truly practical industrial
data terminal, the IT-600 is available with a built-in wireless LAN
module (IEEE802.11b/g, IT-600M30R/M30CR models only) facilitating
safe, high-speed, and real-time communication using either 802.11b
or 802.11g standards. The IT-600’s onboard 1.0 mega pixel camera
(IT-600M30C/M30CR models only) enables the recording and transmission
of visual information. Using free optional software based on CASIO’s
proprietary digital technology, pictures can be taken in low-light
environments yet come out bright and detailed even when no flash is
used.
The new IT-600 has several noteworthy merits, including the laser
scanner, which is equipped with a beam angle control function for
precise barcode scanning, a vibrating scan confirmation for use in
noisy environments, and a learning function for efficiency of use.
The large 3.7-inch transflective VGA TFT color LCD conveniently enhances
the use of graphical Web-based applications.
Furthermore, the large-capacity rechargeable battery (3700mAh) and
low-power consumption design combine for long battery life—depending
on applications used, including wireless networking, approximately
20 hours of continuous operation is possible on a single charge. In
the event of battery exhaustion, program error, or other malfunction,
the auto-recovery tool allows the previously-used application to restart
or be backed up to an external machine so no data is lost. A miniSD
card slot provides an additional storage option. |
