TOKYO, March 7, 2012 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the release of the SHW-1503D, a petite, elegant watch studded with Kyoto Opals for the hour indicators. The model is a new addition to the SHEEN lineup of metal watches for women, based on the concept of “Elegant, Smart and Shining.”
*. Kyoto Opals used in this model are made by Kyocera Corporation. The opals are made using Kyocera’s original gem synthesis technology and resin impregnation technology which produce a quartz-grain structure that is identical to naturally occurring opal.
The new SHW-1503D features Kyoto Opals cut into diamond shapes, and set where the hour numbers would normally be. The unique sheen of opal and its shimmering iridescence, which changes with the light, represents the radiant beauty emanating from within a woman, while adding a delightful accent to her wrist.
With a date display in the 4 o’clock position, the SHW-1503D is a solar-powered radio-controlled watch with automatic time calibration using standard radio waves from two transmitters in Japan and one in China. It also features auto second-hand home position correction, which returns the second hand to its proper position automatically if it slips out of place. Functions such as these perfectly match the needs of today’s intelligent woman.
The Tonneau face design uses bold rounded curves to express the feminine quality of strength combined with softness.
The watch also features scratch-resistant sapphire glass, a crown with a sparkling multifaceted cut, and a high-quality band finished using Sallaz polishing. This refined design accentuates a woman’s beauty, and offers style that can be worn like a piece of jewelry.
Casio also announced the release of the SHW-1503GD, featuring metallic numerals with a multifaceted cut. The body color for this model is champagne gold, evoking the color of the moon, which has been a symbol of graceful feminine beauty since ancient times. Paired with a black watchface like the night sky, this model makes a chic impression.
