TOKYO, June 11, 2010 – Casio Computer Co., Ltd., today announced the release of a new entry-level EXILIM^® Hi-Zoom EX-H5 camera. The newest addition to the EXILIM Hi-Zoom series of stylish digital cameras sports a high-powered zoom lens in a slim, compact body.

The new EX-H5 packs a 10x optical zoom lens that starts at a 24 mm wide-angle view (35 mm film camera equivalent), a 2.7-inch monitor and CCD-shift image stabilization, all in a slim, compact body convenient for travel. With the lens, the photographer is ready for any scene — from massive monuments at tourist destinations to distant landscapes. The camera features dedicated Shoot, View, and Delete buttons for each basic camera operation, so that even novices will find this high-zoom, compact digital camera easy to use.

The EX-H5 makes the most of the high-speed image processing capability of EXILIM Engine 5.0 to deliver a high level of basic performance with beautifully rendered images and reduced noise. Other features include Makeup Mode and Landscape Mode for taking beautiful photos of faces and landscapes. The Handheld Night Scene function and Lighting function enable the camera to automatically analyze the optimum settings for the scene being photographed — such as night scenes when camera shake might be expected, or backlit scenes where faces or backgrounds might not come out right. These features make it easy for photographers to take beautiful images.

Casio has further improved its original Dynamic Photo function, which creates composite moving images. With Dynamic Photo on this camera, it is now possible to extend the background moving images up to as long as 20 seconds, and to move multiple characters independently of each other. These new capabilities raise the power of expression of composite moving images, not only making it more fun to create images, but also increasing the fun of sharing images by making it easy to upload images to YouTube™ using the included software or post them to a blog.

The new Art Conversion function takes saved photographs and converts them to look like an oil painting, pastel drawing, or a watercolor painting, offering more ways to enjoy photos.

The EX-H5 comes in three different colors: standard silver, elegant black, and vibrant red.

  Makeup Mode This mode helps create beautiful pictures of people's faces. This function ensures that faces are correctly focused and well exposed, adjusts the smoothness of skin, and softens facial shadows caused by sunlight.

  Handheld Night Scene function or Lighting function The camera can automatically detect difficult situations, such as night scenes where there would normally be camera shake, and backlit scenes where faces or backgrounds can be poorly exposed, and then make the most appropriate settings. All the user has to do is to press the shutter button to take great pictures.

• Dynamic Photo function for creating composite moving images

  Casio has further improved its original Dynamic Photo function, which makes it easy for users to create "moving photos" right on the camera by cutting moving subjects from the background in images taken with continuous shooting, and combining those images on a different still or moving images background. With Dynamic Photo on this camera, it is now possible to extend the background video up to as long as 20 seconds, and move multiple characters independently of each other. These new capabilities raise the power of expression of composite moving images, not only making it more fun to create images, but also increasing the fun of sharing images by making it easy to upload images to YouTube™ using the included software or post them to a blog.

• Art Shot and Art Conversion functions create photos with the look of a painting

  The Art Shot function makes use of the image processing technology in EXILIM Engine 5.0 to create photos of scenery or human subjects that have the look of an oil painting, pastel drawing, or a watercolor painting. With the new Art Conversion function, it is now possible to apply the same look as the Art Shot function to saved images.

• High Resolution HD Movies

  The camera also features an HD Movie function. Just press the dedicated Movie button to take beautiful movies at 1280×720 pixels.
